Vijay Poonoosamy is the Singapore-based Director International and Public Affairs of QI Group, an Honorary Member of the Hermes Air Transport Organisation, a Non-Executive Member of the Board of Veling Group, a member of the International Board of Experts of Rebuilding Travel, of the Advisory Board of the World Tourism Forum Lucerne, of The Red Sea Development Company and of the World Economic Forum’s Strategy Officers Community, Gender Parity Steering Committee and Senior Deputies Community of the Consumer Industries Action Group.

Vijay’s 30 years’ experience in international relations, aviation and tourism together with his extensive travels and living in Mauritius, UK, UAE and Singapore have consolidated his ability and reputation for international consensus building, Strategic Public Affairs, Ethics and Good Governance. Vijay is committed to ensuring that organisations are purpose-driven and adhere to the highest standards for integrity, transparency, equity, inclusivity and sustainability.

Vijay was the Managing Director of Air Mauritius, the Executive Chairman of Airports of Mauritius, the Vice President International Affairs of the Etihad Aviation Group. He was also Chairman of the 4th ICAO Worldwide Air Transport Conference, the Air Transport Committee of the African Civil Aviation Commission, IATA’s Industry Affairs Committee and IATA’s Legal Advisory Council. Vijay was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Mobility, the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Advisors Circle, the World Routes Advisory Panel, the Board of Directors of US Travel Association, the Board of Governors of the International Aviation Club of Washington, DC and a member of the Board of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.

With COVID-19 having clipped the wings of airlines and locked down tourism, Vijay believes that all travel and tourism stakeholders must urgently re-imagine a purposeful and viable future for travel and tourism.
